Twitch integration in Minecraft

Note: Built-in support for broadcasting to Twitch was removed in Minecraft 1.9 and subsequent versions. We recommend tools such as https://obsproject.com as a replacement. It is available on Windows, Mac and Linux.

What is Twitch?
Twitch is the largest video game streaming platform. It lets viewers watch and subscribe to live and archived video content. Twitch's basic services are free to use and watch.

Getting started
To start using Twitch, visit account.mojang.com, go to your account settings, then select the option to connect to your Twitch account. If you sign into Minecraft with your username, you'll need to use our newer account format. Information on migrating to a Mojang account can be found here. If you don't have a Twitch account, you can create one at twitch.tv/signup.

Twitch settings in Minecraft can be found by clicking the Options button, then the Broadcast Settings button.

System requirements
  • Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit) or Mac OS X 10.8 (64-bit only) or newer. Linux is not currently supported.
  • Apple computers also require Soundflower.
  • OpenGL 1.5 or newer.
  • An integrated or standalone microphone.
If your computer doesn't support streaming via Minecraft, you may want to try a standalone streaming program.

Troubleshooting
First, be sure that your Mojang account is linked to your Twitch account. You can check this at account.mojang.com/me/settings. Next, try fully logging out of Minecraft and your Minecraft account, then logging back in again. You'll also want to be sure that you have downloaded all of the latest updates for your operating system.

  • Cannot use Twitch while offline - You'll either need to restart Minecraft while online, or it means that Twitch is currently having issues. Please try again later.
  • Show commercials do not work - You need to be a Twitch partner to take advantage of this option.
  • Trouble installing Soundflower - See our help article on installing Soundflower.

Revoking Twitch integration
You can revoke Twitch access by visiting secure.twitch.tv/settings/connections and clicking the Revoke link. Revoking access may take a few minutes to complete.
