How do I run Minecraft?

After you have registered a Mojang account, go to or and download the Minecraft game client. You can download the game client even if you don't own the game, but you will only be able to play the demo mode with an unpaid account. We suggest using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox to download; some users have reported issues with Internet Explorer. Place it anywhere you wish, then double-click the icon to run it.

The game can be downloaded to any number of computers. The purchase of the game is associated with your account, not your computer, so will be able to download and log in to the game on any number of computers using your paid account.

You will need to log in with your email address and password (or username and Minecraft account password if you have an older Minecraft account). Please make sure that you are connected to the internet, as Minecraft will automatically download additional game files the first time the program is run. After the initial download, if you cannot connect to the internet, you will be able to select an option to play offline.

Firewalls and antivirus programs can sometimes cause trouble during installation. If you're having trouble installing Minecraft, you may want to temporarily disable these types of programs.
