Minecraft download stops

Description: When downloading the game for the first time, the download stops. This is usually as a result of a firewall or antivirus (frequently, AVG Antivirus) blocking the file transfer.

Solution: If you have an antivirus or firewall enabled, you may wish to temporarily disable them, try the download again, and re-enable them afterward. If you are having trouble updating the game version, make sure that your launcher configuration is set to use the latest version. You can do this by going to "Launch options" in the launcher, clicking the launcher configuration you are using, and checking that the "Version" option is set to use the latest version.

If you’re a Mac user, this issue can be caused by applications from other sources not being allowed. Make sure to allow applications to be downloaded from anywhere from your System Preferences.

You may need to be sure that you are on the administrator account on your computer, as not doing so will sometimes prevent the game from downloading.
