Minecraft mods

Modifications to Minecraft, or "mods", are available through a number of third-party websites. These mods can add or remove content to the game, or change how it is played. Please note that these mods are not created, reviewed or endorsed by Mojang, and the same precautions should be taken when installing these mods as you would with any other piece of independently-developed software.

Mojang is currently developing the Minecraft Plug-in API, which is a common set of tools that will allow plug-in/mod-makers to interact with the game. There are also plans to create a central repository of plug-ins. For information about how this will be implemented, you can watch the plug-in talk from MINECON 2012. Add-Ons is a first step towards customizing Minecraft, starting with Pocket and Windows 10 Edition. Head over to Minecraft.net to learn more about Add-Ons.

Modding is not officially supported, nor can we provide support for mods. Modding can be complex, and may cause your game to no longer be playable. For help with mods, you may want to visit the Minecraft Forums for topics and discussion with other Minecraft players.
